Steve Allen
Steve is an intern at Selah Counseling Center for 2024-2025.
Steve is warm, energetic, and enjoys spending unhurried time with people. His empathetic and non-judgmental nature allows him to attune deeply with his clients. Steve brings hope through helping individuals feel understood and valued. Steve desires to help individuals and families navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship issues.
Steve is currently finishing a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also has received his Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. He utilizes a person-centered approach, striving to build a strong therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions openly. Steve also incorporates aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness therapies into his practice.
Steve’s professional background includes significant experience in ministry and non-profit work. As a former ministry leader, he provided guidance and support to young adults. His role at the University of Nebraska Foundation also involved building relationships and supporting the community.
When not busy with school and work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and their two boys. He is a novice trail runner and participates in various trail races. In his leisure time, Steve also enjoys reading, writing poetry, and listening to all kinds of music.
